A BEE safety note. With increasing presence of africanized bees in many areas, it is important to note that they are dangerous, and to know what to do if attacked. Africanized bees defend their colony fiercely by attacking in force, and they pursue the victim ten times as far as the much more docile european honeybee. These killer bees can live in wild colonies or in a beekeeper's hive box since they do take over normal hives. It is best in these times to keep distance from any bee colony or beehive. If attacked, one must run about 1 mile before the pursuing bees begin to cease the attack. If your breathing is affected, or you have received numerous stings, seek medical attention. It is not a dramatization to note that in some instances, large livestock have been killed by africanized bees. So, BEE safe.

Our harvester ants are available and appropriate for use in most "Ant Farms" or habitats as either the initial or a replacement supply of live ants. They are available all year, but during times of temperature extremes they may be shipped at a time which will avoid demise in transit. At times when temperatures are extreme it recommended that you select the EXPEDITE/PRIORITY option, ("product" no. 003) as transit is faster and there is less exposure to harsh conditions. It is important to have them shipped to an inside mailbox or P.O. Box or to be prepared to take them inside immediately upon delivery as exposure to extreme temperatures either hot or cold will kill the ants.
